AJ Knight is a 2017 3B/OF/RHP with a 5-8 185 lb. frame from Kannapolis, NC who attends Rowan County Early College HS. Compact frame, thick build with present strength. Right handed hitter, hand drop load, strength plays in swing. Shows ability to get extended and pull the ball, rotational elements in swing. Has natural loft in swing and ball can jump a bit to pullside. Variety of positions in field, lower 3/4 arm slot from infield, shows strong arm and accurate, online throws, but can work out of control at times. Also pitches, has a simple, well-paced delivery. Can get off balance and spin at times. Ran fastball up to 73 mph, got into solid rhythm in windup, still developing feel from the stretch. Flashed a curveball with good depth and 11/5 shape. Also mixed in a rare changeup and knuckleball to keep hitters off balance. Excellent student.
