2005 South Top Prospect Showcase
Rummel is a 5-11, 175 lb middle infielder from Texas with solid all around tools. He ran the 60 in 7.10 and showed 83 mph arm strength during infield drills. Rummel was one of the steadiest infielders defensively at the showcase. He takes very good routes to ground balls and always seems to be in position to throw the ball. His play at second base was especially solid but he certainly has the arm strength and actions to play shortstop at the next level as well. At the plate, Rummel has a no stride approach with little weight transfer. His strength and hand quickness enable him to make solid line drive contact and drive the ball a bit with wood and he probably has gap to gap power with metal. A little more rhythm through the ball would bring his power out more. Along with his solid tools across the board, Rummel looks like he knows how to play the game and plays hard. He's a solid middle infielder for the next level. He's also a good student.
