Max Utsler is a 2016 RHP/3B with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Waukee, IA who attends Waukee HS. Lean young build, lots of room to get stronger. Tall step and turn delivery with a short stride and a hard landing leg, tends to fall off to 1B on release, fast paced, high 3/4's arm slot, throws from the far first base side of the rubber. Has good arm quickness for his age, fastball topped out at 81 mph, mostly straight, primary fastball pitcher. Tends to drop elbow on curveball release, softer spin with some 12/6 downer shape. Rare knuckleball used as change up. Left handed hitter, square stance, rotational swing, looks to pull the ball. Good student.
