Noah Stern is a 2016 LHP/1B with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Highland Park, IL who attends Highland Park. Larger frame with present strength throughout, body projects for added strength. On the mound shows smooth arm action with a clean release from a 3/4 arm slot. Creates coil at balance point and shows number with tall and fall mechanics, repeats delivery well. Creates downhill angle on fastball with some arm side run ranging from 78-82 mph. Curveball has 2/7 shape with sharper bite, topped at 67 mph. Good feel for back door curveball to right hand hitters, also has swing a miss ability when down in the zone. Flashed a changeup at 71 mph with some fading action. Composed on the mound and pounds the strike zone with all pitches. Stays off barrels and produces soft, ground ball contact. Good ceiling on the mound with added strength and velocity. Right handed hitter with a closed stance and quiet hands. Swings hard with some pop to pull side. Likes to be extended at contact while front hip leaks early at times. Quiet mechanics with balance throughout swing. Worked out at 1B defensively. Throws from a low 3/4 slot, topped at 79 mph. Smooth funneling glove actions with in body frame. Plus range to both sides at 1B, glove work becomes stiff while moving for baseball. Fundamental footwork around the bag and transitioning to throws. Good student as well.
