Brendan McGuire is a 2015 LHP/OF with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Urbandale HS. Medium athletic build. Drop and drive delivery mechanics, compact arm action, arm works well out front with good extension, works quickly and attacks the strike zone. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, turns the ball over and gets good running action. Short quick slider has some sharpness to it, curveball gets good depth, commands both breaking balls well and can pitch backwards, flashed a developing change up. Has an idea how to pitch but must command fastball better to take the next step. Showed good athleticism in the outfield with strong accurate throws. Right handed hitter, busy shift and load, short quick line drive swing, handles the barrel well and had good game at bats. Hustling type player who loves to compete. Good student.
