Parker Ridge is a 2017 SS/2B, RHP with a 6-0 140 lb. frame from Marion, IA who attends Marion. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame shows plenty of room for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.08 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, fundamental footwork while working to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front with smooth, fluid glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Very good first step angles to each side with solid range, flashed athletic action while working through baseball and creating momentum to the bag. Shows the ability to releases from multiple arm angle and generated carry to the bag, topped at 83 mph across the infield. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Lower half shows some linear action to contact generating good shift. Loose, slightly extended path to contact with a line drive plane through extension. Primarily used a mid-field approach but flashed the ability to turn barrel to contact and produce hard line drives to the pull side gap. Repeated swing mechanics well while staying balanced throughout finish. Also pitched showing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Creates slight coil over back leg at gather and utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate. Tends to land at a slightly closed position on front side but easily clears hips while rotating to finish. Long, loose arm circle back at separation and releases from a mid three-quarters arm slot. Fastball has some downhill plane to the plate with occasional running action in the upper 70's, topped at 79 mph. Curveball has 9/4 shape with softer spin and sweeping depth to glove side. Also flashed the ability to turn over a changeup in the upper 60's with a deceptive arm action that matching fastball offering. Consistently filled the zone early in counts with fastball primarily spotting up on the outside edge of the plate. Flashed feel and command of off speed pitches when working to glove side. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
