Carter McKinstry is a 2017 2B/RHP with a 5-7 170 lb. frame from Cataula, GA who attends Harris County High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.59 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary middle infielder, showed developing transfer and fielding actions, moved well to the ball, and showed raw arm strength. At the plate, started with a narrow base, tall, open stance, high hand set, and a stride to the ball. Generated torque through lower half with raw bat speed at the plate. Showed strength at the point of contact and ability to drive the ball to all fields. Will continue to improve with additional timing at the plate. Also pitched, started with a big rocker step, high leg lift, tall through backside, crossfire element, and changed arm slots. Worked from a high three quarter arm slot from the windup and dropped down to side arm from the stretch. Fastball worked 69-76 mph with better arm side life from the lower slot and higher velocity from the higher slot. Limited lower half usage and worked around the zone. Will continue to improve with implementation of secondary pitches and additional lower half incorporation. Good student.
