David A. Coleman II is a 2020 C/3B/1B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends Marist High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Primary catcher, begins with a wide and athletic base behind the plate, stays low through transfer and release and gains short ground with lower half, receives the ball out front with a fuller arm actions working to a higher release point, accurate throws, overall arm strength will continue to develop. Also worked out at first base, fields the ball out front with a wide base, looks ball into glove well, gets it out and into short, compact arm action, upright at release with an extra step, takes short steps coming off the bag. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate and utilizes a a high leg lift trigger for timing. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball with swing path with a high finish through the point of contact. Able to generate bat speed through the zone with line drive contact off the barrel and shows comfort working the middle of the field while repeating mechanics. Very good student.
