Evan Smith is a 2017 C/OF with a 6-0 215 lb. frame from Lakeland, TN who attends Memphis University. Medium frame with a solid build. Right handed hitter with a wide base and toe tap trigger. Inside swing path with solid bat speed through extension. Shows present strength at contact to drive the baseball deep to all fields. Primarily works gap to gap but shows the ability to turn barrel head and drive the baseball with authority to pull side. Listed as a primary catcher but worked out as an outfielder at this event. Showed athletic actions while closing on the baseball with good momentum through transition. Long arm action at release that generated accurate throws with carry, topped at 76 mph. Tools will continue to develop with future repetitions. Very good student as well.
