2005 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Toffaletti is a 6-0, 170 lb senior shortstop from North Carolina. He's a 7.43 runner who threw 79 mph during infield drills. Toffaletti has good hands and a strong arm and really stood out defensively during the showcase games. He made some spectacular plays that showed his athleticism. Toffaletti has a good load and rhythm to the ball at the plate, with a short, compact swing and a line drive swing plane. He got his hands extended well in batting practice and showed some gap to gap power and solid bat speed. During games Toffaletti kept his hands tighter and didn't quite have the same snap in his bat. Toffaletti will have to keep working on his strength and quickness but he's a very sound fundamental player who works hard and knows how to play. Good middle infield follow. Toffaletti is also an outstanding student with some very good academic schools in his sights.
