Michael Machin is a 2019 C/RHP, OF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Miami Lakes, FL who attends Monsignor Edward Pace. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout. Primary catcher, compact set up behind the plate, receives the ball out front and funnels into a longer release, compact arm action and shows big arm strength and carry on throws to second base, gets tall at release and can continue to incorporate additional lower half into actions/release. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Starts with weight loaded onto back side, shifts well through point of contact and utilizes a simple set of mechanics without many moving parts. Short and quick swing path, stays direct to the ball with hands and shows strength to them as well. Generates extension out front and creates jump off the barrel, handled it well in live action with hard contact to all parts of the field. Good student. Named to Top Prospect List.
