2015 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
James Parris is a 2017 OF/RHP/SS with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Stone Mountain, GA who attends Redan HS. Large frame, athletic build with present strength, still has room to fill out. Worked out in the outfield at this event, charges the ball well and is aggressive in working though the ball. Can get a bit out of control at times, but has tools and arm strength, the ball comes out well, was clocked at up to 86 mph from the outfield. At the plate, has a slightly open stance and wide base. Quick hands with good bat speed, aggressive approach. Shows ability to get extended and create leverage at contact. Flashed some carry and juice to the gaps, should continue to improve with more consistent use of lower-half in swing mechanics. Very impressive athleticism and footspeed, ran a 6.59 60-yard dash. Good student.
