2015 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Zach Martinez is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from West End, NC who attends Pinecrest. Large frame with solid present build, good athleticism and projection throughout body. Primary pitcher, deliberate and slow-paced windup to balance point, very quick arm through shorter arm circle, hesitates at top of balance point which throws off hitter timing. Gets downhill well, overpowered hitters with FB working 81-85 and touching 86. FB showed solid two-seam life at 81-83, straightened out some at 84-86. Secondary offering was the CB, showed good bite with quality depth in 63-68 range. Showed extremely well offensively in game, turns the barrel well and gets the head out, leveraged swing with strength and bat speed, roped a pair of doubles in game action with impressive exit velocity. Named to 2015 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
