Michael Gutierrez is a 2017 RHP with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Upland, CA who attends Damien HS. Medium, athletic frame with a lean, projectable build and room to fill out through frame. Primary right-handed hitter, starts with a side step into windup with nice pace through delivery, works through it well and shows extension out front with a mid three-quarter arm slot. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, shows some life to arm side and sink when in lower quadrants of zone. Shows ability to locate fastball down to glove side and pitches mostly off fastball. Slider shows 11-5 shape with depth and nice feel. Quality pitch when on top with occasional tilting life. Flashed a changeup at 64 mph. Most effective when mixing in off speed.
