Whitley is a 5-9 junior infielder from Florida with a slender, projectable body. He hits out of an open stance with a slashing swing that’s looking to hit the ball to the opposite field. More strength will definitely help Whitley with the wood bat. Defensively, Whitley showed good range and quick feet in the infield and natural infield actions. Whitley also took the mound for 2 innings of relief. He has smooth pitching mechanics and went after hitters aggressively with a 76 mph fastball, 62 mph curveball and 68 mph change up. His curveball was a pretty good pitch for him and he used it effectively. Whitley is a good student.
