Graham Woods is a 2018 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends John F Kennedy. Large frame with long limbs, broad shoulders and wiry strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple side step to leg lift delivery. Creates slight tilt on back side at balance point. Stays in line well and carries momentum through finish. Medium arm circle back at separation and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed running action to arm side with good life through the zone in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Consistently filled the zone with fastball and has developing feel for the edges of the plate. Curveball had 1/7 shape with tight spin and solid depth when located down in the strike zone. Showed the willingness to pitch backwards in counts and double up with curveball. Also flashed occasional feel for a changeup offering in the mid 70's. Consistently located off speed pitches down in the zone inducing weak ground ball contact throughout each inning of work. Good student as well.
