Jaden Rolffs is a 2018 C/RHP with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Pella, IA who attends Pella. Large frame with an athletic build and present strength. Ran a 7.26 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a slightly taller, side set stance while setting up to receive the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with smooth paced footwork. Clean exchanges and arm circle while working through transition and released from a low three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated good carry to the bag topping at 78 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.97. Also worked out defensively from the infield, travel to the baseball from a lower position with fundamental footwork. Funnels underneath the baseball prior to work through transition. Flashed some range to each side with extended range to glove hand side. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot created downhill angle across the infield, topped at 88 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Compact, direct hand path to contact with a naturally leverage plane through extension. Generated good backspin off the barrel and consistently worked between the gaps. Baseball jumps off barrel very well and showed very good plate presence with a mature approach. Good student. Named to the 2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase-Top Prospect List.
