Carter Collins is a 2018 SS/RHP with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Tampa, FL who attends Jesuit. Medium, athletic frame with a lean, projectable build and room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 7.77 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well to the ball, fields the ball out in front. Loses momentum, could work through the ball more consistently, but shows quick release with compact arm-action and accurate throws across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, early front foot, deeper hand load. Sweepy, fluid, upper-body swing, has line-drive swing plane, flashes feel for the barrel, best contact to the middle of the field Very good student. Also pitches, leg lift just below the belt, slight pause at apex of lift, deceptive elements to delivery. Sudden, late hand separation, throws off hitters' timing. Fastball up to 79 mph, shows occasional cutting action. Curveball with 12/6 shape, solid depth, flashes tight rotation and late break at times. Strong potential on the mound. Very good student.
