Ryan Rogers is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'1'', 210 lb. frame from Whitesville KY, who attends Owensboro Catholic HS. He has a thick, mature build with some present strength. Rogers has a very smooth and balanced delivery and an easy, tension free arm stroke. The ball comes out of his hand without much effort out in front. Rogers delivery enables him to spot his pitches effectively. His fastball was 79-82 mph with some running action. His best pitch was a 70 mph curveball that had good spin and a big 2-plane break. Rogers did a very good job of back dooring right handed hitters with his curveball. He also mixed in a few good change ups that sunk well. Everything Rogers threw was down in the strike zone. Rogers big asset is his delivery; he's a finesse pitcher who has a good idea how to get outs. Keep an eye on him for potential velocity gains. Rogers is also a good student.
