2015 Caribbean Top Prospect Showcase
Jesus Alejandro Galarza Santiago is a 2016 SS/OF with a 6-3 174 lb. frame from Ponce, PR who attends Academia Ponce Interamericana. Large, long limbed athletic frame with room to fill throughout body, high waist. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, short strides to the ball, longer release from compact arm action, does a nice job of getting on top of throws, shows strength and carry on throws across. Nice breaks in the outfield off the bat, quick feet to the ball, over the top slot with an upright release, shows arm strength and projects for more with incorporation of lower half. Righthanded hitter, starts with an open stance and hands pulled back with high back elbow. Full swing through the zone with a line drive swing plane, occasionally gets to front side early. Looseness to swing, gets the barrel through the zone, shows best carry off the barrel to the middle of the field. Excellent student.
