Jonathan Blackwell is a 2019 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-2 184 lb. frame from Hurricane, WV who attends Hurricane HS. Medium build with good physical projection. Simple leg raise, turn and throw delivery, works quickly and repeats his mechanics well, 3/4's arm slot with loose extension out front. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 89 mph, moves his fastball all over the zone and spots it with good running life, showed the ability to elevate his fastball over barrels at the proper times, misses lots of barrels with his fastball. Curveball has consistent tight spin with good biting action, lands the curveball for strikes very well and pitches between his fastball and curveball. Rare change up showed nice run and sink, could be a future weapon for him as well. Very polished southpaw who should have immediate success at the next level.
