Cameron Mahaffy is a 2019 OF/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Costa Mesa, CA who attends Newport Harbor HS. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a high waist, long limbs and projects well with room to fill throughout. Ran a 6.92 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short and quick steps moving towards the ball, fields out front and funnels well, clean actions and shows a fast arm through the back with some effort at release, strides on line through release and ball jumps out of hand with carry and accuracy. Also pitched, stays balanced through delivery with a pause over the rubber at top; quick tempo and shows quickness to arm stroke working to a high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 88 mph, worked downhill well, mostly true in life and mixed in a curveball with solid spin and depth up to 75 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even and spread stance in the box with a high hand set and lower back elbow. Quick wrap at start of swing but uncoils well into contact, looks to lift the ball out front and creates whip to the barrel. Swung it well and handled the barrel nicely in live action, went deep and showed ability to drive the ball to opposite field. Very good student. Named to West Coast Top Prospect List.
