Tyler McKenna is a 2019 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Valrico, FL who attends Newsome HS. Large and very physical frame with broad shoulders and tremendous present physicality. Primary catcher who moves well and gains ground. Very quick transfers with excellent arm strength, recorded up to 81 mph. Keeps throws low and accurate throws to the correct side of the base. Very impressive catch and throw skills. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a strong lower half and works quickly. Exclusive stretch with a compact delivery and a leg lift at the belt. Gathers well over the rubber and gets good drive off the lower half. Works to both sides and pitches off his fastball which was up to 89 mph. Challenges the strike zone and remains directional toward the plate. Three-quarter arm slot with very good arm speed. Good plane and sink down in the zone. Slider showed sweeping action and a hard changeup. Fields position well. Lefthanded hitter with a high hand set and high back elbow. Narrow base with a simple swing. Quick and easy trigger into swing and is best when getting extended. Showed strength and bat speed when on time with a clean swing path. Named to the 2017 Florida Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Excellent student.
