2021 Summer Main Event Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Jonathan Strydom is a 2022 RHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Pope. Medium athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Solid delivery mechanics with good direction to the plate and an over the the top arm action that creates good angle to the plate. Fastball worked up to 81 mph with some arm side run to it, has been up to 83-84 mph at PG tournaments previously this summer. Threw both a 11/5 curveball and a solid change up as secondary pitches and showed the ability to throw all three of his pitches for strikes and to mix them up to keep hitters off balance. Key to future development will be to get stronger and to further refine his command and the life on his pitches. Good student.
