2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Michael Reyes is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 5-8 167 lb. frame from Monmouth Junction, NJ who attends South Brunswick. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Stays balanced at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball generated good downward angle through the zone with arm side run in the mid 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball had 1/6 shape with tighter spin and good depth in the mid 60's. Also flashed a changeup that created quality fade to arm side in the low 70's. Showed good presence on the mound with a knowledge for pitching. Consistently changed speeds and showed the feel to work to each edge of the plate with all offerings. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean, smooth footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange efficiently. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot producing solid carry to the bag at 81 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Coils hands slightly at load and utilized a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Displayed good balance in swing and employed a mid field approach. Very good student as well.
