Ben Probst is a 2017 RHP/ with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Dowling Catholic. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size and strength while maintaining athleticism. Primary right handed pitcher with a very smooth, methodical side step delivery. Stays very balanced and tall on back side at gather prior to work to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Stays in line with the plate and carries momentum well through finish. Will land slightly closed at times generating some cross fire action at release. Long arm circle back at separation and released from a clean high three-quarters arm slot. Generated steep downhill angle through the zone with a heavy running fastball that topped at 92 miles per hour. Maintains arm speed well with a curveball offering that had 10/4 shape with late, hard depth. Can elevate with fastball offering creating a lot of deception and swing and misses with curveball. Shows a good knowledge for pitching with command to both edges of the plate. Mature, calm presence on the mound consistently over matched hitters. Committed to the University of Iowa.
