Declan Semler is a 2023 1B/RHP, C with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from New York, NY who attends Fieldston High School. Medium, broad shouldered frame with present strength to size and additional room to develop. Primary first baseman, fields out front with two hands, shorter arm action on throws, short footwork off the bag and on the charge, arm strength will continue to develop and will refine overall actions. Also pitched, rhythm to delivery with a higher leg lift and turn at the top, short stride down the mound but fills the strike zone, creates cut action to fastball up to 73 mph. Varies shape to breaking ball up to 60 mph, shows confidence mixing and working in the zone. Righthanded hitter, begins with a bent knee stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Longer swing path through the zone, upper body dominant swing, uses hands well and creates contact to all parts of the field, finds the barrel, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into swing.
