Carson Stephens is a 2019 SS/RHP, IF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from St. Petersburg, FL who attends Northside Christian. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.39 60-yard dash. Graded out higher on the mound in this look, balanced delivery, strides on line and lands slightly open with strike foot, shows a full arm stroke through the back side while working to a three-quarters slot. Fastball topped out at 77 mph, shows running life to arm side when down in zone and throws strikes.. Fading life to changeup, slows arm action upon release but turns over well, short tilt to breaking ball. Quick feet in the infield, fields the ball out front and works behind it well, balanced charging in, shorter arm action on throws across, projects with additional lower half incorporated into release. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and shows a short shift into contact. Shows smoothness to swing with a level plane through the zone, employs a contact approach, upper body dominant swing, best contact to pull side when on time. Very good student.
