John Meany is a 2019 C/1B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Weston, FL who attends Pine Crest High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Primary catcher, started with a lower set, received out front, and used a short, tight release. Got on top of throws well with a workout pop time of 2.07. At the plate, started with a spread stance, even base, and a quick leg lift timing mechanism. Gets extended well with a line drive swing plane and looks to drive the ball in the air. Should continue to complete weight shift into swing. Swung with an opposite field approach. Will continue to improve with age and additional strength. Exceptional student.
