Philip Bruce is a 2019 1B/LHP with a 6-6 240 lb. frame from Gurley, AL who attends Huntsville HS. Extra big, tall and thick build, especially strong lower half. Right handed hitter, limited lower half shift and use in his swing, upper body rotational swing, big and long strength driven swing, flashes the ability to impact the ball when on time, upper cut swing plane, can improve with lower half adjustments. Left handed pitcher, stays compact and simple in his delivery with good on line direction towards the plate, extended 3/4's arm slot. Throws a heavy upper 70's fastball and fills up the strike zone with it, lots of late movement gets off barrels with weak contact. Curveball has nice sweeping life with feel for the strike zone. Ability to repeat his delivery notable for such a big athlete. May have a higher ceiling on the mound with increased velocity. Excellent student.
