Jorge Valdes is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 5-8 130 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Miami Southridge. Lean, athletic build with square shoulders, projectable frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. Solid runner, posted a 6.82 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well on feet to ball once underway, short and compact arm stroke through the back, occasionally under release and uphill, strides open with front side, shows accuracy to throws. Also pitched, leg lift up to belt with a slight hip turn at top, shorter stride down the mound. Simple delivery with balance, pitches to contact and works from a three-quarters arm slot. Slight cut to fastball, topped out at 75 mph, inconsistent release point, flashed a curveball at 64 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a medium stance and a crouched set. Linear swing plane through the zone, contact approach with developing stretch. Stays balanced through swing and incorporates lower half well, creates consistent contact, gets the barrel through the zone quickly, works middle and opposite fields consistently.
