2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Colin Kirschner is a 2006 OF/1B from Westfield High School in Centreville, Virginia, with a 5'8'', 155 lb. frame. Defensively he showed plus range in center field, including a great diving catch he made during one of the showcase games. Kirschner has good speed and game quickness with a quick first step and good instincts in the field and on the bases. At the plate he is a left handed hitter with a straight away stance, a high back elbow, and no stride. Kirschner is a contact type hitter who looks for his pitch and doesn't try to do too much. He is patient at the plate with a great understanding of the strike zone, and he tracks curveballs very well for a young player. He made solid contact during the showcase games and used the whole field. He plays the game hard and has a high baseball IQ.
