Matthew Toohey is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Fairview Heights, IL who attends O'Fallon HS. Medium athletic build, lean with plenty of room to get stronger. Simple delivery mechanics, stays on line and balanced well, medium length arm action with a 3/4's arm slot. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 80 mph, works his fastball down in the zone and gets sinking/running action and good angle, can spot his fastball effectively arm side. Shows very good feel for his curveball and changes speeds between his fastball and curveball well and will get hitters off balance, CB flashed tight spin and good 1/7 depth at times. Has an idea how to pitch and get hitters out. Good athlete, ran the sixty in 6.78. Right handed hitter, long upper cut swing, gets hands extended and swings arm. Good student.
