Steven Bone is a 2007 C/1B with a 6'3'', 205 lb. frame from Toronto ON, who attends Leaside HS. He has a strong and mature build with very good present strength. Bone is a very good defensive catcher who has played with the Canadian National Junior Team. He has soft hands receiving the ball, quick feet and good balance when shifting and throwing. His best pop time was 1.96 and he had an accurate arm. Offensively, Bone hits from a wide stance with a long and strong swing. He tends to keep his hands tight to his body and rotate his upper half through the ball. Bone will show some alley power when he hits the ball out front and takes advantage of his strength. More extension will give him more consistent power. Bone is an upright runner on the bases who doesn't look like he's moving too quickly but he runs OK for a catcher. Overall, Bone is a strong and durable receiver with good defensive skills. He's also a good student.
