J'Ryan Gonzalez is a 2018 2B/SS with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Cutler Bay, FL who attends Coral Reef Senior HS. Smaller overall frame with a lean and wiry build with room to add strength. Primary second baseman who funnels well with quick and clean hands. Feet work well through throws with developing arm strength and a chance to be a strong defender as he adds arm strength. Righthanded hitter with a wide base and open stance. Leg lift trigger into swing with natural leverage created. Medium hand set with a quiet hand load. Some quickness to hands and was able to generate solid contact to all fields. Consistent line drives primarily to the pull side. Feel for the barrel of the bat and did a good job at staying on plane throughout the swing. Looking to elevate the ball and often did so. Good student.
