Cal Poremba is a 2017 C/3B/RHP with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Wadsworth, IL who attends Warren HS. Has a medium frame, athletic build, sign of present strength with more to come as he continues to mature physically and put on additional muscle. From behind the plate, has a narrow base with flexible actions, good quickness and clean mechanics. Made accurate throws down to second with developing arm strength up to 70 MPH while popping as low as 2.09 seconds. At the plate, left-handed hitter that starts with a slightly open stance, high back elbow, and long stride trigger. Shows a full swing while swinging on a line drive swing plane with natural lift at the point of contact. Displayed solid bat speed and quick hands, solid pop off the barrel when going to the opposite field. On the mound, throws from a 3/4 arm slot with compact arm action. Curveball works well when located down in the zone. Has natural deception and does a nice job hiding the ball. Excellent student.
