Carter Kessinger is a 2019 RHP/OF, 1B with a 6-1 178 lb. frame from Burbank, CA who attends Notre Dame. Large frame with a lean, athletic build. Wiry strength throughout frame. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.48 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, simple side step delivery. Creates some front side coil at gather. Creates some front side swing while driving to the plate. Gets front side back on line well while working over a strong front leg. Full arm action at separation and releases from a low three-quarters arm slot. Delivery and arm slot hide baseball well on a fastball offering that ranged in the low 80's, topped at 84 mph. Fastball had solid arm side lift in the lower veloicty band with the ability to spot to the edges. Effectively worked down in the strike zone and had the willingness to work on the inside half often. Induced weak contact and missed barrels when running fastball in on hitters. Flashed a slider with tight spin and solid tilt in the mid 70's. Arm speed and slot matched fastball offering making it difficult on hitters to pick up spin. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced, clean actions while closing on the baseball. Gets through the baseball well creating solid momentum into throws. Long, loose arm action at release that produced some carry to the bag with accuracy topping at 79 mph. Right handed hitter with a slightly closed stance and coiled start. Creates linear actions with lower half while shifting into contact. Direct hand path to contact with a naturally lifted plane through extension. Shows present bat speed with jump to the gaps when squared. Barrel is in and out of hitting zone quickly at times. Shows best swing mechanics when working the middle of the field and extending through contact. Solid two way prospect. Excellent student. Named to 2016 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
