Nick Niles is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-5 200 lb. frame from Narragansett, RI who attends The Prout. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a long and lean projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 4.07 30-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins delivery with a medium leg raise before breaking hands into a full arm action through the backside. Works to a high three-quarters release point, arm action and release are easy, uses size to create angle at time when on top of the ball, topped out at 74 mph with fastball and showed some running life to the arm side. Will need to maintain a consistent release point but showed three pitches, 10-4 shaped curveball with some sweeping finish while showing depth along with a changeup at 68 mph which he replicates the arm action on well. Fields the ball out front in the infield, similar full arm stroke as he showed on the mound, gets on top of throws well and shows accuracy across. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and high back elbow in the box, upper body dominant swing. Loads weight on backside, stays short to the ball with swing and looks to leverage the ball at point of contact. Creates consistent contact to pull side, gets the barrel through the zone, still projects physically. Excellent student.
