Rian Yates is a 2019 RHP with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Oskaloosa, IA who attends Oskaloosa HS. Long and lean pitcher's build, projects well physically. Loose athletic actions on the mound, simple and repeatable mechanics, gets good extension out front from a high 3/4's arm slot, stays under control well. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, gets some cutting action down in the zone and occasional arm side run. Flashed quality with both his curveball and change up, curveball has tight spin but release and shape not consistent yet, change up has good life and some feel for the strike zone. Should continue to improve as he gets stronger and more physically mature. Good student.
