Samuel Angelo is a 2019 1B/OF with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Toms River, NJ who attends Toms River North High School. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 5.27 40-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front, shows clean actions coming off the bag and moves well on feet, can throw from multiple slots and drop low with accuracy across, pulls front side early but remained accurate including while on the charge. Also pitched, quick side step into a higher leg lift, slight coil at balance point; full and tight arm action through the back to a high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 75 mph, mostly straight with occasional sink down in zone. Flashed curveball at 63 mph. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an even stance in the box and utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Stays compact and repeats mechanics well, linear swing path with extnesion out front. Low effort swing and stays smooth through the zone, creates bat speed and finds the barrel with comfort working the middle of the field. Very good student.
