Brad Hand is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'2'', 205 lb. frame from Chaska, MN who attends Chaska HS. He has a very strong build with an athletic presence about him. Hand has come a long way in the past 6 months with his skills and tools, especially on the mound. He has a long and fast arm action with good use of his quick lower half and the ball explodes out of his hand. His fastball was up to 93 mph and pretty straight and he was able to throw it consistently above hitter's hands. His curveball had power spin at 76 mph and he had good feel on location. Hand's change up showed some quality as well. Hand can make some adjustments with his delivery and direction to improve his command and consistency. Hand also ranks as a high level power hitting first baseman. He stays behind the ball well, has a smooth swing and can drive pitches to all fields. He squared up on top stuff well and wasn't afraid to hit the ball the other way and sacrifice lift for line drives. Hand is a high level hockey player back in Minnesota and you can see the gamer in him, too. With the ability he showed in Cincinnati, baseball is definitely his future.
