Barrone Porter is a 2017 SS with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Collierville, TN who attends Houston HS. Medium, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable frame with room to fill out with added strength. Ran a 7.04 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front, shows a full arm action and gets on top of throws, arm strength across the diamond, occasionally gets under throws, flashes range up the middle with quick steps to the ball. Switch hitter, starts with an even stance and high back elbow and lower hand set from the right side. Shows feel for the barrel and hand speed in swing, came off the barrel well in game at-bats, creates consistent contact to pull side, line drive swing plane, will flash extension at contact. Still developing consistent feel from left side, starts with an open stance, hands work on swing, short path to the ball. Good student.
