Jamie Hicks is a 2018 3B/RHP with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Parker, CO who attends Ponderosa HS. Large frame with present strength. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Right handed hitter with an open stance and compact hand set. Loads weight and hands to a deep, strong position and launches to contact with an extended swing plane. Creates extension through contact with line drive swing path while working the middle of the field. Showed best bat speed and pop when hands were extended to pitches on the outer half of the plate. Worked out defensively from the infield showing athletic actions while ranging to both sides. Developing glove actions while funneling baseball outfront. Smooth glove to hand exchanges throughout transition. Creates solid on line momentum while thowing with accuracy to the bag, topped at 76 mph. Pitched exclusively from the stretch showing a simple leg lift delivery to balance. Maintains balance throughout delivery with solid on line drive to the plate. Creates slight front hip coil at balance and release with a high three-quarter to over top arm slot. Creates downhill angle on fastball with occasional cutting action in the low to mid 70's. Tends to slow arm action slightly on changeup offering. Changeup shows simliar cutting action to fastball in the mid to upper 60's. Primarily worked the bottom of the strikes zone inducing groundball contact. Tools should continue to develop in all phases with maturity. Good student as well.
