Conner Banta is a 2018 MIF/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Kennewick, WA who attends Kamiakin. Large frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Ran a 7.2 sixty-yard dash. Primary middle infielder with smooth footwork while rounding the baseball and working through the baseball. Fluid glove actions while funneling out front and works through exchange well. Flashed solid range to each side with good first step angles. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot creating accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 80 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively form the outfield showing aggressive actions while closing to the baseball. Sound glove actions while picking up baseball with loose, clean exchanges. Generated good momentum through the baseball and released from a loose arm action topping at 84 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Shifts into contact with with linear lower half actions. Flashed good fast twitch actions that generated solid bat speed through the zone on a direct, line drive plane. Created good lift when working to the gaps and flashed the ability to turn barrel to contact and work to pull side with authority. Named to the 2017 Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student as well.
