Matthew Parker is a 2008 3B/P with a 6'1'', 183 lb. frame from Blue Point, NY who attends St Anthony's HS. He has an athletic build with some present strength. He is a good runner at 7.25 hand timed on a slow track and threw 87 mph from the outfield and 82 mph from the infield. Parker is a primary third baseman and looked solid there defensively. His arm plays well and he had nice athletic balance in his actions. He'll have to work on his lateral quickness. His actions in the outfield were also pretty good and he could play there at the next level as well. Offensively, Parker has good hand speed to the ball but has a fairly long, aluminum type swing at present. The ball came off his bat hard and he pulled some pitches hard and has the tools to keep improving with the bat. Parker also took a turn on the mound and threw 84 mph from a fast paced delivery and high 3/4's release point. His arm worked well and he could probably develop some more velocity on his fastball if he were a primary pitcher. Parker is a good student.
