Jake Stenzel is a 2022 RHP/SS, OF with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Peyton, CO who attends Peyton. Medium frame with a young, lean build. Frame projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Tends to land on a slightly closed from side at release. Hides baseball well with a compact arm circle and released from an over top arm slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly producing some downhill plane through the zone in the upper 60's to low 70's, topped at 71 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with looser spin and quality depth in the low 60's. Utilized a smooth tempo delivery that allowed for consistent mechanics. Primarily looked to challenge hitters to the bottom of the zone while changing speeds. Also worked out defensively from first base showing deliberate footwork while working off the bag and centering the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position with two hands and worked through exchange well. Loose arm stroke at release that produced softer carry across the infield. Right handed hitter with a balanced, slightly open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Compact hand path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Displayed developing feel for the barrel while employing a mid field approach. Flashed the bat head control to work to the opposite field gap as well when staying balanced. Very good student.
