Reese Smith is a 2021 SS/C/2B with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Denham Springs, LA who attends Denham Springs HS. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lena, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front and hands play well at ball, sound athleticism to actions, shows nice body control with quick feet, accurate throws when setting feet prior to throws, comes out well and projects for additional arm strength moving forward. Also caught, low set behind the plate with flexibility in lower half, fields the ball out front and works to a three-quarters release, gains short ground and could incorporate additional lower half into release. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright and open stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Simple leg lift trigger for timing, able to generate bat speed through the zone and shows a present feel for the barrel. Hands start pulled back, repeats mechanics well and shows hand-eye coordination with occasional carry and back spin to pull side, can use all fields. Named to 14U National Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student.
