James Reece is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-0 210 lb. frame from Tunnel Hill, GA who attends Coahulla Creek HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and a solid build. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Hides baseball well at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Lands in line with front side while working through extension. Fastball produced some downhill plane through the zone with some life to arm side in the low 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with tighter spin and good depth when staying on top of offering in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup that created some arm side run with sink in the low 70's. Displayed good feel for all three offerings and consistently landed each for strikes. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and reaching front side trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Loose hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent while looking to drive the baseball to the middle of the field. Flashed the ability to generate leverage in swing when creating contact out front and working between the gaps. Very good student. Named to the 2018 Fall Academic Showcase, Top Prospect List.
