Dan Cryan is a 2017 C/RHP, OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Orland Park, IL who attends Victor J Andrew. Large, well-built frame with athleticism and high projection remaining as well. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.03 seconds. Showed very well on the mound, compact arm action with good arm speed up to high three quarters arm slot, hides ball well from hitter, very good downhill plane to the plate and really gets on top of fastball. Fastball worked 82-84 MPH with big arm side life; very effective when thrown inside to right-handed hitters. Showed curveball with 11/5 shape and very good depth; also flashed changeup with easy release off of hand and fading action. Held velocity well and pounded the zone. Sets up to hit from slightly crouched stance, toe tap trigger, shows line drive swing plane for the most part with good strength off the barrel and ability to go to all fields. Can generate backspin, slightly lofted path at times, shows power now with more developing. Named to 2016 Great Lakes Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student.
