2017 PG Top Prospect Games at TCU
Beau Preston is a 2020 C/RHP, OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from McKinney, TX who attends Prosper High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs; lean build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary catcher, compact stance behind the plate, gets tall out of crouch with slight pause at top of release, quick feet, can continue to incorporate lower half into release, quick transfer out of glove, on top of throws and around the bag down to second base. Also pitched, short and quick arm action through the back and stays compact at release with a three-quarters arm action. Mostly arm at release and can continue to incorporate lower half, fastball topped out at 81 mph and showed a feel for curveball, landing pitch for strikes with sweeping finish. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing, stays short and inside with swing path through the zone. Creates bat speed and able to generate back spin when squared and on time, occasionally gets to front side early, linear swing plane getting to point of contact. Very good student.
